Infant Baptism

We look forward to working with you as you prepare to have your baby baptized.  It is recommended that you contact us a few months prior to the birth of your child, if possible.  We can begin the preparation process after the birth of the child, as well.

“The three sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Orders confer, in addition to grace, a sacramental character or “seal” by which the Christian shares in Christ’s priesthood and is made a member of the Church according to different states and functions.  This confirmation to Christ and to the Church, brought about by the Spirit, is indelible; it remains for ever in the Christian as a positive disposition for grace, a promise and guarantee of divine protection, and as a vocation to divine worship and to the service of the Church. Therefore, these sacraments can never be repeated.”   CCC 1121

St Joseph Baptismal Preparation

Baptismal preparation begins with regular Mass attendance. Jesus saves us through His death and resurrection, and the Mass puts us in touch with that saving power. God speaks to our hearts in the Mass, and He gives us His healing and strength through the sacrament of the Eucharist.

Baptismal preparation requires that families work through the Ascension Press program Belonging which is a series of short videos and a workbook. Parents begin with an in-person, on-site meeting (baby is most welcome to come too!) to watch and discuss a video. Then there are other short videos for you to watch at home on your own schedule. We will touch base throughout the time it takes you to complete the videos via phone or at a brief meeting after Mass.
